It is a Non-profit organization created to assist Oroko children and their families living in Oroko villages.
What is the purpose of Angels for Oroko Children, Inc?
Angels for Oroko Children, Inc is a non-profit organization catering only for the interest, growth, and development of ALL Oroko children living in the villages, attending Primary and Secondary Schools. With the assistance of the sponsors, it provides financial assistance to Oroko children so that they can reach their full potential by wrestling with the causes of poverty. Sponsorship is based $12.00 per month.
Who are Angels?
Angels are sponsors or partners who out of the goodness of their hearts decide to sponsor Oroko children, contribute, and donate to the progress of the mission, goals, and objectives of this organization.
Where is Oroko located on the Cameroon Map?
The Oroko area is located both in Meme and Ndian Division of Southwest Cameroon, West Africa.
How many villages in Oroko?
There are 213 villages in Oroko Areas.
Who is a Cameroon village Ambassador?
A Cameroon village Ambassador is the spokesperson for a particular village and lives in that particular village. He/she is responsible for compiling the registration packets of all the school children in the area. He assists our staff in the delivery and distribution of the money and gifts to the children.
Who is the US village Ambassador?
It is an individual living in the US who is selected to recruit sponsors for the village children, raise funds, and publicize the organization.
Will there be tribalism or favoritism in registering and sponsoring the children?
There no tribalism or favoritism occurs with registering the children because at least one staff member is selected from each region. In short, each regional staff member makes sure that the children in his/her area are registered. Secondly, tribalism or favoritism does not occur when the children are selected for sponsorship because the children are added on the website without their complete history.
What choices of school children can I sponsor?
You can select either Primary or Secondary school.
What is a Primary School?
A primary school consists of the first three or four grades of elementary school with children between the ages of 4 to 12 years.
What is a Secondary School?
Secondary School is a school higher in level than an elementary school with children between the ages of 13 years to 16 years old.

Is employment available?
There are/will not be paid employees: everyone working with this organization is a volunteer.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
In Cameroon, the volunteer opportunities are sponsors, teachers, editors, writers, photographers, nurses, midwives, and Drivers. In US, there are sponsors, contributors, donors, and fund raisers.
How will Angels for Oroko Children, Inc assist Oroko villages?
Angels for Oroko Children, Inc will improve the conditions of the children, the villages, and encourage children to stay in schools. It will assist in providing generators, clean water supply, schools, and medical supplies to the villages. Hence, child sponsorship will improve the standard of living for the school children and the conditions of the villages.
What is a Child Protection Team?
Child Protection Team is a group of volunteers who research and investigate that the information provided about the children is accurate and also that Angels for Oroko Children, Inc does not violate the privacy of the children.
What is the research team?
The research team is a group of volunteers who visit the villages researching the conditions of these villages and assisting in compiling the children's registration packets.
What happens to Children with disability?
Disabled children are encouraged to attend school. However, if there is no special school in the area to accommodate the child's special need; he/she will be sent to a different area to attend a special school.
Will a disabled child continue to receive sponsorship when he/she is out of the sponsored areas?
Yes: the child will still be sponsored because this is an exception situation. Even though, the child might leave the sponsored areas, he/she will still be eligible for sponsorship.
Will an orphan continue to receive sponsorship when he/she is out of the sponsored areas?
No: unlike the disabled child with special needs, an orphan does not require special needs to be official placed in a special school. Therefore, orphans who leave the sponsored areas are terminated from sponsorship.

What is Child Sponsorship?
Child sponsorship is a strategy to assist needy children develop brilliant future away from poverty. It connects children living in the poor environments to obtain the opportunities and benefits they would not have dreamt of. Through letters, pictures, gifts, and newsletters, the sponsors learn more about the children.
How much does child sponsorship cost?
With a tax deductible contribution is $12.00 per month. You can make your gift monthly, quarterly, twice annually, or annually. You can sponsor a child by sending your check to the organization or online today using a credit card. You can have your payment be automatically deducted from your account. How does child sponsorship work?
When the school children living in the Oroko villages register, their names are added in a Selection Pool on the website where potential sponsors can select children. Sponsors then contribute $12.00 per month to children. 100% of the money contributed is used for the children's tuition, etc.
Who is a sponsor?
A person who out of the goodness of his/her heart selects a poor child and contributes money and gifts for the basic needs of the child and his/her community.
Who can Sponsor a child?
There are no restrictions on sponsoring a child. Any individual, team, organization, church, class, association, school, or company who can afford the monthly contribution can sponsor a child.
What is the role of a sponsor?
We cannot ignore the importance of the sponsors, for without their financial assistance and prayers; there will be starvation, uneducated children, and very poor villages. However, with the contributions and prayers of the sponsors, children have the opportunity of an education; hence, the growth and development of their communities.
Why sponsor an Oroko child?
Every culture is unique. Sponsoring an Oroko child will prevent the culture from extinction due to poverty. It will improve the living standard of the children, family, communities, and the country. It will eliminate poverty that has resulted because of the lack of medical, school supplies, good roads, and health centers. Specifically, it will prevent young girls from getting married at an early age or going into forced labor. Oroko Child Sponsorship will gradually, speed up the growth and development of the villages.
Can an Oroko person sponsor a relative?
No, an Oroko person cannot sponsor a relative. AFOC prohibits the sponsoring of relatives. All children with relatives either in Asia, Europe, Canada, or USA and those who are already sponsored by their relatives are rejected. Any sponsored children with relatives in these areas will be terminated.
How are children chosen for sponsorship?
The research team selects and registers the poor school children in Oroko Villages. The registered children are added in a Sponsorship Selection Pool on the website, where potential sponsors select the children.
Can I choose the child to sponsor?
You can choose the child from a Selection Pool of children on the website and even specify the sex, age or grade.
What do I receive when I become a sponsor?
You will receive a Welcome Packet including the child's photo, the child's profile, family history, and a letter from Angels for Oroko Children, Inc. In about several months, you will receive a letter from your sponsored child introducing his/her family. In addition, you will also receive annual financial statement, annual report cards on your child's progress, and a Christmas Card. Most important you will have children who know, love you and will be committed in praying for you.
How is my sponsored child benefiting from my contributions?
Your sponsored child will receive school tuition, most importantly will have a family who will love and pray for him/her.
Can I adopt my sponsored child?
It is a blessing having you as a sponsor. Unfortunately, Child Adoption is not an option for Angels for Oroko Children, Inc.
When will my sponsored child no longer need assistance?
You may sponsor a child as long as you wish. However, you can no longer sponsor your child when he/she drops out of school for a whole academic year without an excellent reason. In addition, since there are no high schools at this time in the villages, you can either sponsor your child until age 16 years, or when he/she graduates from secondary school or when he/she moves away from the village. However, disabled children are the exception because of their special needs; they might have to move away from the sponsored areas to attend special schools.
Will a child who fails an academic year be dropped out of the program?
Yes, children who fail the academic year will be dropped from the program. Hence, children are encouraged to perform with a grade of C or better in each term. However, if a child fails the first term, he/she will be enrolled in extra lessons with his/her teacher. In this situation, the child will not have to fail the whole academic year.
Will I always have the same child?
It might become necessary to assign another child to you because the child's family moved away from the community being served, or the child turns 16 years, or the child graduates from secondary school.
What happens to my sponsored child if I discontinue my sponsorship?
We pray that you do not terminate your sponsorship. However, if you decide to terminate your support, your sponsored child will be added on the Selection Pool on the website awaiting a sponsor.
Can I replace my sponsored child?
Yes, you can replace your sponsored child. The replaced child will be put back into the Selection Pool.
What are the benefits of sponsoring an Oroko child?
Generally, sponsoring a child provides the humanitarian fulfillment of improving another person's life; including the joy and satisfaction that you are making the greatest difference in a child's wellbeing. Specifically, for an Oroko sponsor to sponsor an Oroko child will result in a sense of belonging to an accomplished group. Secondly, it is an opportunity for an Oroko sponsor to promote the growth and development of Oroko culture and its people. On the other hand, as a non-Oroko sponsor, sponsoring an Oroko child will open a window to Oroko culture. Hence, the non-Oroko sponsor becomes enriched by Oroko culture through its food, fashion, language, family life style, chief anointing, feasts, traditional dances, and history.
Will my sponsored child have other sponsors?
No, there is one sponsor per child, that is why your support and prayers mean the world to the child.
Can I sponsor more than one child?
Yes, you can sponsor as many children as you want.
Will I receive a progress report of my sponsored child?
At the end of the academic year the progress report of your child will be sent to you. If you do not receive a progress reports by February, please contact the Headquarter nearest to you. The progress report will inform you of your child's health, school progress, latest achievements in his/her community and provide you with a recent picture of your sponsored child.
Correspondence
How can I communicate with my child?
Direct communication is very important to your sponsored child. Your child takes pride in writing and hearing from you. You can write to your sponsored child through email or letters. You may write as often as you wish. Our staff will read the letters to your child.
Will my sponsored child visit me?
It will be an honor to us if your sponsored child can visit you. However, due to our limited staff to supervise the child on the trip, we do not recommend such visit at this time.
Can I visit my sponsored child?
Visitation and communication are of great significance to the life of your sponsored child. You can visit your child with the guidance of our staff to supervise the trip. We encourage visitation with your sponsored child because it will provide you with a clear understanding and knowledge on how your contributions have improved the life of your sponsored child and his/her community.
Will my sponsored child write to me?
Yes your sponsored child will be able to communicate with you with the guidance of our staff in Cameroon Headquarter. Your sponsored child has the opportunity to write to you at least twice a year.
Can I write to my sponsored child?
Yes we recommend that you write as often as possible. However, we recommend that you avoid talking about your financial and personal problems. Please write simple information about yourself, family, and your country. We also recommend that you encourage your sponsored child in his/her school work.
Can I contact my sponsored child directly?
We are very happy that you are interested in communicating with the children directly. However, we recommend that you contact the children through the staff in Cameroon headquarters.
Payment
How much does it cost to sponsor a child?
Your prayers are always welcome because they make the greatest difference in a child's life. Generally, the minimum is $12.00 per month or one-time contribution of $144.00 per year.

Can I make my contribution online?
Yes, Contributions can be made online. After registering, you will have the opportunity to create your own account page. You will have access to view your monthly contribution. A one time donation or monthly subscrition is also available to help you donate towards a cause of your choice.
Can I send extra money or gifts directly to my sponsored child?
We are very grateful and thankful for your contributions. However, given the difficult transportation to the villages, we recommend that you send your gifts to the address above, and we will make sure it gets to your child.
If I am sponsoring more than one child, do I have to write a check for each child?
We understand that writing checks cost money; that is why we recommend that you write only one check.
Will I be receiving financial statement of my sponsorship contributions and gifts?
As a sponsor, we want you to know everything happening with your sponsored child and Angels for Oroko Children, Inc. Therefore, financial statements will be sent to you once a year. If a statement is not send by February of the following year, please check the website and print a copy or send an email to info@angelsfororkochildren
Can I send my sponsorship contribution for the whole year?
Yes, you can send your contribution in one annual payment.
How much do Angels for Oroko Children, Inc pays its staff?
We are very proud and honored by the work our volunteers do. However, we have no paid employees since everyone is a volunteer.
How can I help raise money for Angels for Oroko Children, Inc?
You can assist by raising money through donations and also by organizing yard sales, bake sales, raffles, auctions, fundraising dances, fundraising concerts, and fundraising dinners.
How does Angels for Oroko Children, Inc send funds overseas?
Presently, funds are sent by bank wire transfer or Western Union where three officials (president, vice president, treasurer) pick up the money and distribute to the villages with the assistance of the Village Ambassadors. For security reason the Western Union answer is distributed among the three staff members. In this case, they present their answers together and are all responsible for the safe delivery of the money.
What happens in the case where one of the officials is not available to collect the money?
The president notifies the US. Headquarter and the answer for the unavailable official is given to him/her.
How does Angels for Oroko Children, Inc send gifts overseas?
Gifts are collected in specified location and shipped in containers to Cameroon, where arrangement is made for the gifts to be delivered and distributed in the villages.
Are contributions and donations to Angels for Oroko Children, Inc tax-deductible?
Yes: the Oroko Cultural Association is registered as a Non-profit Organization with a 501c (3) status.
How is my contribution to my sponsored child distributed?
100% of your contribution to your sponsored child goes to the child.
How do donations work?
There are two types of donations: individual and General. The individual donation is extra money or gifts sent to a specific child. On the other hand, a general donation is money or gifts sent to specific programs.
How is my donation distributed?
Individual donation or extra contribution sent to the sponsored child is distributed as 70% of the contribution goes to the child and 30% goes to develop the conditions of the children's communities. With general donation, 20% of the money goes to the overhead while 80% is used to improve the villages or the program specified by the donor.
What is the difference between sponsorship and donation?
Sponsorship is monthly contribution of $12.00 per month sent to a specific child. While donation is extra money or gift sent to a specific child or children, or money sent to finance a project.
How do you determine which village to develop with the general donation?
We have a list of all the villages and are constantly performing intense research on the needs of these villages. Donated money is provided for the development of these villages based on our list.
What is Health Care Center Fund?
For repairing health care centers and building health care centers in areas where there are no centers.
What is Immunization Fund?
To provide the Vaccinations of children to prevent them from illnesses such as cholera, measles, tetanus, tuberculosis, yellow fever, chickenpox, whooping cough, etc.
What is Water Supply Fund?
Given the bad water supply in these villages, this fund is to provide fresh and clean water for the communities.
What is Road Construction Fund?
Due to the bad roads or no roads to some areas, this fund is to provide good roads to the villages.
What is Generator Fund?
This fund is to purchase generators that can be used as electricity to the villages, schools, and health care centers.
What is Classroom Fund?
The fund is for repairing and building classrooms
What is Sport Fund?
The fund is to provide the school children with sport materials such as balls, sport jerseys, etc.
What is a group donation?
It is when a group of people, corporation, church, company decide to sponsor a child(ren) or contribute to project(s).
Do you have funding for children who become orphans?
No, at this time we do not have special fund for orphan children. We hope that this will change in the next future.
